Separate a Lochinvar water heater from a boiler
Lochinvar lists residential gas and electric tank water heaters as well as boilers, indirect tanks and tankless equipment. A direct-fired or electric storage heater is not the same system as a tank heated by a boiler. Describe the equipment that actually supplies your household’s hot water.
If you have more than one tank or linked equipment, mention that arrangement when you call. A hot-water problem may involve the heating source or controls as well as the tank. Do not try to isolate the fault by operating unfamiliar valves or opening equipment.
Before choosing a replacement
For a conventional replacement, discuss fuel, vent configuration where relevant, capacity and access. If the current system uses an indirect tank, ask for a separate evaluation rather than selecting a standard tank based only on its volume. The proposed system should match the existing installation context.
Plan service around your home.
For a Marietta home with the heater in a basement, garage or utility closet, tell the team about the location and any restricted access. Mention stairs or a narrow removal route when discussing replacement. The installation area can affect the work as well as the choice of equipment.
Compare the condition of the storage tank and its hot-water delivery before deciding on a repair. A leak from a fitting is different from a failed tank body. Learn about repair, replacement and maintenance before you call.
Describe what you can see safely. Leave gas, electrical, venting and pressure-relief work to qualified professionals.
